Even before I started writing this article 'End of the Pubg Era in India?', I knew what people might be thinking about. That it’s a bit off the topic or theme of the blog. But then I remembered I started writing blogs because I like writing. I like to express my feelings, views, experiences. It’s a platform where I share my thoughts on various issues, topics, and events. So, whensahilwrite is a personal blog and a personal blog is a medium to share thoughts and information.
Continuing with the topic which we are talking about today i.e. is the end of the Pubgm era in India? I like to put a question mark here. Some might be thinking what's the matter if a game is banned. It surely is banned in a lot more countries so what will happen if it gets a ban in one more country? what will change?
It surely is not the case. Here in India, I know that the government has decided to ban Pubg because of security and privacy reasons and I also know about the Chinese intrusion and I respect the government’s decision. However, try to imagine, relate, and feel what I am about to say.
Ever since I was a kid, I had a great interest in video games and more. I'm simply amazed by the video game world. A video game is not something like a time pass especially for me as I love gaming. I was a Pubg player as well and ever since I have known video games. Honestly speaking, I never knew much about esports. I never believed if it’s a true thing or a dream or something like that. I never heard these terms, even when I was in school. All I knew was that one can make his/her career in sports. You can be a cricketer or if you have enough guts to challenge this society and have a will to work harder, you can be a footballer or a chess player or a wrestler. Seriously, sports other cricket never has that much respect and attention in India and that’s a bitter truth. Guess how many people watch football and support the Indian football team? Ok, people might watch football and love it but they mostly like foreign players which is not wrong but there support towards the Indian football team's player is less. Guess how many people watch tennis, badminton, table tennis, pool, etc. and now you know why people don’t know about e-sport or even heard about it in schools.
When Pubg set its foot in India and here I am talking about pubg pc and it was not famous back then. Dude, hardly some people knew about Dynamo, he was a pubg pc player and streamer. It's hard but it's true that no matter what anyone says when the pubg mobile version first came it didn't rock but later on, it was a big thing that no other game stood a chance against it. People who knew about gaming and esports recognized the opportunity or It's better to say, people who liked and loved watching streamers like Carryminati playing pubg pc tried to experience that same game when it came on mobile. What the mobile version did here was People who watch others playing pubg on pc want to experience the same but were incapable because they didn’t have a good pc to support that game. Then pubg came up with the mobile version and it changed everything. Slowly it became famous among the nation. It became a platform where you can have chat with your friends, make new friends, prank them, joke with them while you can challenge them in terms of a number of kills and skills but this was not the end at all. It is not just a game for people to pass their time and have fun. It also gave them their career. Players like 8bithug, mafia, scout, mortal, and many more challenged the world and themselves to get a trophy for India in e-sports. We all knew that mortal grind a lot on YouTube before he did that amazing chicken dinner and that clip went viral.
And that’s pretty much how a gaming community started out of nothing. For me, if I was ever asked to describe what I think about games is that when we play games we pretty much surrender ourselves to its experience, the character, the pain of the character and if you ever had played some sort of story-based games you will relate to what I am talking about such as, assassins creed, prince of Persia, vice city story mode, Detroit became human and more games like that. When I play games like these, I feel the character myself. It allows me to step out of my own life and live in a brand-new different world. In other words, it takes me away from the real-life to experience the virtual world.
But as we all know; everything has a good and a bad side of it. while these games gave so much, built a community of its own, kind of revolutionized Indian e-sport. Yes, its true pubg just gave new heights to the Indian gaming community but on the other hand, it also took a lot. There were people who became so crazy about the game that they don’t see anything right or wrong and the sad part is some people attempted suicide, killed themselves, or spent all of their parents' hard-earned money on the game. When I am talking about money I am talking about a lot of money. Things like that justify the ban.
I don’t think it is ok to blame the game for all of this and many will not agree with me here but just think about it. Some people had nothing in the beginning but now they are renowned names in the community. They are the ones who built themselves from absolutely nothing and they deserve the success they have because of the same game that caused “DEATHS”.
I hope you understand the thing I am saying which is that pubg was a game and its players made it famous. Its audience made pc game streamer shift to mobile games or use an emulator to stream. Because people want to watch this game. You guys made it this much famous but the game is a ban and until it gets unban or something like that happens. Which I know will happen as pubg mobile earned a lot from its users in india and which is why they are trying their best to deal with the situation. I know it’s a tough situation, things are changing. If you can make pubg famous you can do everything, it's just tough and it’s a real test for you now. If you are a streamer or e-sport player reading this, this is a tough time but not the end.
If it doesn’t get unbanned then it’s the game that got the ban, not your skills. Yes, you dominated once in this game and I know that you still have the skills and will dominate in more games. Participate in more tournaments of games. I know you can do it because you once did. And for common players like me even I miss the game because for me it was a place where I and my friends can have fun, enjoy, laugh, compete, and more. A step outside of the real world and place, life in the virtual world. But one thing I know that it was fun because I had my friends with me. If I compare those who lost the game because it's banned now to those who kind of lost their jobs because of the ban. You can see the difference cannot be small between them.
I believe pubg gave the Indian gaming community new heights and it will always increase because we have such people who are seriously working for it to make the country proud, to fulfill their dreams. It was a ban on pubg not on the content you created as a content creator, not on your dream to make India proud on an international gaming level, not on your wish to be a streamer and entertain people. Nothing is left to say, all I know is pubg was a game that started an era of gaming in India but it's not the end of gaming. Be ready for whats coming next. Future is always full of surprise and please understand the point people are commiting suicides for a gameor changing their fields which is not correct in any way. Be proud of yourselves and work hard for your dreams. Because if you can't work hard on them who will!!
