If I was ever asked to describe India, I can't describe India better then the land of festivals. India is always known for its rich heritage culturereligious sentiments, ethnic backgrounds, languages and different traditions and customs.

assume only India has so many festivals that we can divide them into different types and that’s only my assumption. So please don’t judge me if I am wrong. To give you a glimpse of religious sentiments and rich heritage filled festivals, we can look at the types of festivals. We have national festivals such as Independence Day when people and mainly children around the country fly kite as a symbol of independence. Harvest festivals like Baisakhi and Pongal. Both of these festivals are celebrated to thank god for a good harvest. Religious festivals like Janmashtami, Eid, Dussehra, Christmas and many more.

I love all the festival equally but if I was ever asked to choose one festival then the Birth of Lord Shri Krishna better known as Janmashtami holds a special place in my heart. I am not a religious person nor I belong to the religion category of Krishna Janmashtami but I love Janmashtami and I also have a special way to celebrate it. I grew up in such a beautiful environment that I never knew any kind of religious differences. I grew up in a place where no religion is known to mankind and my parents taught me to believe in Good, to believe in God, help the one who needs your help if you are capable of helping as it's your duty to help and stay away from evil and negative deeds. I performed in a lot of function during my school days and especially during Janmashtami. So I always celebrated Janmashtami with my friends even after I left that school I used to visit it especially during the Janmashtami time, spend some time with my friends, at that time of year the whole market is decorated, schools and temples primarily celebrate Janmashtami with dance, music and various plays. I used to roam with friends until midnight from temple to temple and the whole market in order to eat different sweets and prasad.

These are the things I love doing and that’s how I love and celebrate festivals as my family always told me that festivals are important and also they are gifts from God to give us reason to smile, to live, to be happy and to see the magic around us. YesI believe in magic. I believe that magic is what created this land, it is what around us that cannot be seen from naked eyes but can only be seen with a love-filled heart. I believe that the magic around you is real and you will notice that someone beautifully drew the sky and painted it with colours so the sea can reflect it back and have its beautiful colour. That light of the sun is here to guide us so that plants can create their food and all the creatures on earth can have their food. The moon is set there so it can reflect the light from the sun and glow in dark to give us light. Its all connected its all magic its all here so we can fill our heart with love from its beauty. That is what different festivals try to remind us,  isn't it? Well, I guess that what I only believe in but I do also believe in science as well.

For a long time, I have noticed a decline in the hype, in the love and the enthusiasm of festivals. From time to time, a decline can be seen in the festival's enthusiasm. sometimes my father says that people now only take interest in their own business and there is not much enthusiasm left in them for the festivals we love to celebrate. Because of a lot of things such as environmental impacts, political differences, religious hatred and many more. I know that it can be seen in some festivals where it's important because of the impact it has on nature. But that’s not the complete story I presume. There are still a lot of ways by which one can celebrate these festivals if we have love-filled heart and enthusiasm for it. I believe that one day people will understand this and festivals again will be celebrated with great love and enthusiasm. But for now, we have to face a different problem like we didn’t have any other problem and that is COVID 19. The first half of the year 2020 is gone without any proper festival celebration. For the first time I have seen people celebrating eid inside their houses, Holi at that time was not properly celebrated because of the fear of coronavirus with many exceptions but I didn’t as I was really scared as I don’t want to bring my family to have any kind of harm. I and my family together made sweets and snacks, watched movies, enjoyed and prayed during eid and Holi.

I used to be a lot excited for Janmashtami but it is the first that the festival is here and I don't even remember it just a day before. How the year has gone till now affected us a lot. I don’t know if Janmashtami will be celebrated this time in temples and schools with plays, dance shows and singing shows because schools are closed right now. I may not be able to celebrate it this time with my friends and family like I used to before. I know it's for our own betterment. I wish for this pandemic to end soon. But when I look closely I think this is a lesson that taught us we can celebrate festivals even in our home maybe with not the same energy band we have celebrated a lot of festivals during the lockdown period which gives us a reason to smile, to live, to be happy and to see the magic around us. That is what festivals are for. I truly wish that one day I can celebrate all the festivals again together with my friends and family.

As I was writing, today is Shri Krishna Birthday aka Janmashtami. Wish you all a very happy Janmashtami. May we be blessed with Shri Krishna's unconditional love, smile, and guidance. May he guide us in the tough time and fill our heart with love so we can see a little magic as well.
